Held in Sapporo, Japan on October 21-22, 2006, the 1st Pacific-Rim Conference on Education's themes were special education and inclusion, the quality of academic achievement, English as a foreign language for children, and teacher professional development. The conference was attended by 150 delegates representing 19 universities, three K-12 schools, two departments of education, and the Thailand Government Ministry.
